+ Nếu câu nói trước dấu phẩy là khẳng định, câu hỏi đuôi phải ở dạng phủ định; nếu câu nói trước dấu phẩy là phủ định thì ngược lại.
E.g: She is beautiful, isn’t she?
– Câu hỏi đuôi của “I am” là “aren’t I”.
E.g: I’m a student, aren’t I?
– “Let’s” trong câu rủ ( “Let’s” ) thì khi thành lập câu hỏi đuôi sẽ dùng “shall we?”.
E.g: Let’s go to the cinema, shall we?
– Chủ ngữ là “Someone/ Somebody/ Nobody/ …” câu hỏi đuôi chuyển thành “they”.
E.g: Someone knocked on the door, weren’t they?
– Chủ ngữ là “Something/ Nothing/ Everything/ …” câu hỏi đuôi chuyển thành “it”.
E.g: Nothing can stop me, can’t it?
– Câu trước dấu phẩy có “It seems that + mệnh đề” thì ta lấy mệnh đề làm câu hỏi đuôi.

– Chủ từ là mệnh đề danh từ, câu hỏi đuôi dùng “it”.
E.g: What she has said is true, isn’t it?
– Sau câu mệnh lệnh cách ( Do …/ Don’t do … ), câu hỏi thường là will you?
E.g: Open the door, will you?
– “Must” chỉ sự cần thiết thì câu hỏi đuôi dùng “needn’t”.
E.g: You must do this exercise early, needn’t you?
– “Must” chỉ sự cấm đoán thì câu hỏi đuôi dùng “must”.
E.g: You mustn’t play games, must you?
– “Must chỉ sự dự đoán ở hiện tại câu hỏi đuôi khi thành lập câu hỏi đuôi dựa vào động từ theo sau “must”.
E.g: He must be a very intelligent student, isn’t he?
– Câu trước dấu phẩy có “I + think/ believe/ suppose/ figure/ assume/ fancy/ imagine/ reckon/ expect/ seem/ feel that + mệnh đề phụ”.
E.g: I think he will come here, won’t he?
+ Lấy mệnh đề phụ làm câu hỏi đuôi. Nếu mệnh đề chính có “not” thì vẫn tính như ở mệnh đề phụ.
E.g: I don’t believe Mary can do it, can she?
+ Nếu mệnh đề chính là “I” thì dùng mệnh đề chính làm câu hỏi đuôi.
E.g: She thinks he will come, doesn’t she?
– Khi thấy “had/ ‘d better” lấy had làm câu hỏi đuôi.
