Lien: Probably. In rural areas, girls can be forced to work from home and in the fields.
Man: I think they have to because many people think girls do worse than boys at school, so they are not allowed to go to school.
Lien: It seems that there is also the influence of the custom to respect men and despise women!
Man: I’m afraid I don’t agree. I think women do better than men in school and more women have university degrees than men take that exam
Lien: Exactly. In Vietnam, men outnumber girls in primary and secondary schools, but there are many women who do well in school and pass the big exams higher than men.
Nam: I believe that gender discrimination in education begins in the home because parents treat boys and girls differently, discriminating.
