Blue whale
The blue whale is the largest animal known ever in the history of the earth. Blue whales have a large, long, and slim body that makes them easy to turn water when moving. They have a bluish-gray _____(1)_____ (STOMACHACHE) and a lighter belly and a series of folds in their neck that will ____(2)____ (EXPANDABLE) four times when they eat. The Blue Whale’s tails are straight and split into two ____(3)____ (PADDLE) that help push their ____(4)____ (BULK) bodies under the pressure of the water current. Blue whales belong to the family of “____(5)____” (TOOTH) whales, which means that instead of teeth, they have about 395 horns growing in the upper jaw and are used to filter food from the water. Like their ____(6)____ (RELATION), blue whales also have two holes in their back, which are used to push old air and seawater out of their lungs as they ____(7)____ (EMERGENCY) for ____(8)____ (RESPIRATOR). Although it does not possess real teeth, the Blue Whale is still classified as a ____(9)____ (CARNIVOROUS). They live on a diet that is mainly composed of mollusks, small ____(10)____ (CRUST), and sometimes small fish. Blue whales feed by swimming towards the swarm of prey and the creases in their necks allow their ____(11)____ (THROATY) to expand, take a huge gulp of water into the lower jaw food bag and close their mouths. The water is then pushed out, but thousands of tiny organisms are captured by their food-filtering jaws and then swallowed. Blue whales can ____(12)____ (CONSUMER) up to 6 tons of prey daily during the summer months in cold and food-rich waters. Although Blue whales eat huge amounts of food in summer, they eat almost nothing when moving to warm waters in winter.
