Reading is a great way of practising your English in your own time. You can take one word at a time at your own pace, without your teacher peering over your shoulder. If you’re studying at a beginner to intermediate level, pick up a children’s book where the language will be easier than an adult book.
Newspapers are also worth reading. Not only can you improve your English but you’ll learn about local and national goings on, which can be handy when communicating with native speakers. Free newspapers and magazines, as well as tabloid-style newspapers which use more basic language, are perhaps better for low level speakers.
Nowadays, English is widely spoken all around the world, it’s the national language in many countries. Since we are Vietnamese, our English might not be as good as the native speaker’s. But surely, there are always some tips that can help us to better our English, let’s see which way fits you the most. Many people like reading books in English because they can develop their knowledge, vocabulary and grammar, the others choose to talk with foreigners so as to gain their confidence and improve their way of speaking English. Personally, I think that if we want to be good at English, we need to use differrent methods in order to improve every skills in English, including: speaking, writing, reading and listening. Therefore, we should read books on grammar structure, talk to our friends using English, watch TV programmes such as National Geographic, Discovery,…and don’t forget to revise the things that you learn. I believe that you will succeed if you try hard and put effort to it with all your attention.
