Ta có $P = \dfrac{\sqrt{x} + \sqrt{y}}{\sqrt{xy}} = \dfrac{1}{\sqrt{x}} + \dfrac{1}{\sqrt{y}}$ Áp dụng BĐT Cauchy ta có $P = \dfrac{1}{\sqrt{x}} + \dfrac{1}{\sqrt{y}} \geq 2 \sqrt{ \dfrac{1}{\sqrt{x} . \sqrt{y}}} = \dfrac{2}{\sqrt{\sqrt{xy}}} = \dfrac{2}{\sqrt{\sqrt{4}}} = \dfrac{2}{\sqrt{2}} = \sqrt{2}$ Dấu “=” xảy ra khi và chỉ khi $x = y$.
